I had the chill bowl in the freezer for the recommended 12 hours.
I bought this icy machine about three years ago, and I absolutely loved it.I liked the look, and it shaved ice very well.I paid around 50 to 60 for this product.After making approximately 50 snow cones in it though, it broke.The gears just kept grinding, but it would not shave ice anymore.I figured the blades had gotten dull.Therefore, I went out and bought a 30 dollar sharpening kit from a local hardware store.I sharpened the blades where they would cut the hair off of my arm like a razor.Still, it would not work.Therefore, I paid about a dollar per cup of shaved ice.I would have been better off buying my slushies at the local convenience store after I factored in the cost of ice and flavoring.It just is not worth the price for as little amount of time as it last.
I couldn't be better pleased with this decal set.The decals themselves are wonderful quality - well worth the price, which I thought was a bit steep, until people started bragging on my beautiful mixer!A dear friend in Maine wrote me that I surely had the fanciest mixer in Alabama.My Mom has been telling everyone how talented I am, and I keep reminding her that it was a set of decals - my talent (or lack thereof) had nothing to do with it!With the 5 year projected outdoor lifetime of the decal set, I feel confident that inside, covered up and in its cabinet, my mixer will be fabulous forever!I truly did not want to put it away in the cabinet after "decorating" it!The only warning I would give anyone buying this set is to be very careful as you're placing the roses - they're really sticky!
I ordered this one because the description specifically says "stainless steel canister".Guess what... I bought one of these a year ago.My kids used it almost every day during the summer and probably 3-5 times a week even over winter time.We purchased huge jugs of slushie syrup at our local hardware/party rent-a-center.
A friend just bought this for me and it is a piece of junk.I got really excited to try it out because it has been so hot and humid.I thought I would make a bunch of them for friends by the pool.Well I never shaved off more than 3 Tablespoons of ice.I tried flipping it the ice, waiting for it to melt a bit but it never worked.The motto is you get what you pay for.
I have been making krumkaka on my cast iron baker every Christmas for over 40 years and since getting a new stove with a ceramic cook top, needed another tool.I am extremely pleased with the features of this electric baker.Any oil running out of the iron winds harmlessly around a cleverly designed track, cooling solid before running onto the counter.The heat setting dial with light and the latch insures each cookie is the same thickness and color.I have finished my "Norwegian" baking duties in half the time it normally takes.
Look...making yogurt isn't that compicated.All you need is a good starter culture, a stable and appropriate temperature and clean equipment so you get the proper cultures growing.The Salton 1-quart does a beautiful job and you can't beat the price.If you've never made your own yogurt before, this is the unit to buy.Don't spend tons of money on a piece of equipment that does nothing more than keep the milk warm for a few hours.Realize, it is much easier to just buy yogurt at the supermarket. But if you don't like keep buying little plastic containers, and if you don't mind going to just a little effort to make your own foods, you'll enjoy making yogurt.I like to use milk straight from the bulk tank at a local dairy farm and either organic Stonyfield (NH)or organic Butterworks (VT) yogurt as a starter.Homemade yogurt doesn't always have the homogenous and solid consistency of store-bought, but I've had very good results (quite comparable with commercial yogurts) with the Salton, plus I can use whatever flavorings I want from real maple syrup to my favorite jams. I even use the yogurt in place of sour cream.The possibilities with home-made yogurt are almost unlimited!
This is great as an ice tray; you don't have to run water over the bottom, crack and twist the tray, and then get splintered ice, drips all over your kitchen, and too many or too few cubes.You don't have to turn it upside down; just push from the bottom and get exactly however many cubes--I mean, shells!you want, with no breakage or mess.The tray is a little soft and flexible so you do have to find a flat place in the freezer for it, and when I stacked another tray on top I got a little bit of "stickage" and a few misshapen shells; not a big deal unless you wanted perfectly shaped decorative ice.
Bought these to turn our kitchen aid into Alton Brown's and it does and looks great.
I'm glad that Hamilton Beach revived this classic.All other models I found (including HB's less expensive take on their classic jadite green drink mixer) are flimsy plastic.This one is heavy, sturdy, and well-made ... the drink-mixing equivalent of a Kitchen Aid mixer.We are thrilled with the quality and performance.You'll be proud to have it in your kitchen or bar.The styling is gorgeous!
I can't express how popular these have been this summer at our house. They are never empty. It's like fried food at the fair, somehow EVERYTHING tastes better when frozen & on a stick.
Serves the purpose well, thinking about getting more molds of the same brand! I am very pleased with the result - serving my kids with homemade popsicles with known ingredients!
I picked this up at a B&M store because I couldn't find the Cuisipro yogurt maker locally, and I didn't want to wait for shipping.
The waffle cone mix came with three pounds of mix in the box.Each pound of mix was in a separate package.One package made about 15 waffle cones. The mix was easy to use. I just added a pint of water to one package and I was ready to bake. The cones had a great flavor and came out beautifully.
Ice mould came out nicely, but due to the hot weather here in my country, it melted a few minutes in room temperature..
I bought this for one of my boys for Christmas and it was quickly assumed by the whole family (of six!)We use it almost every night for last four months and have had no problems.It quickly & continuously makes enough for 6 people within minutes.Defintely our favorite!!
My kids received it as a gift and despite our best efforts, we couldn't get it to make even one snow cone.No matter what we tried (letting the ice cubes sit out for 10-15 min, fewer cubes, more cubes, smaller cubes) the machine jammed almost immediately every time.Since it was a gift and don't know where to return it, it will go in the trash (can't even donate it).
Does everything as advertised, and does it well. This thing makes great home-made ice cream. The ability to modify the volume by varying the amount of the ice cream mix works, but takes some practice to get the desired result. Cleaning is very easy, which is a good thing, because it weighs 50 lbs and basically has to stay where you put it. I think it has only two caveats. This is a noisy piece of equiment, although, with some experience, the change in the noise as the ice cream get processed can indicate when its done. The second is that its a good idea to stock up on the gaskets it needs to keep the seals in the dispenser because they will wear out, although KitchenAid did provide an extra set in the box.
The first time I used it (and everytime after that)after about 3 min of blending it started to smell like burning plastic likeI was overusing the motor and it could possibly catch fire. Then after the second wash the handle from the spout broke off so nowthere's no point for that. So now I have a useless blender that I've owned for less than a week.
These are the cutest ice trays. I have this one (the star ice cubes)and the penguin ice cubes. You get a really nice cute ice cubes. The star ice tray gives you a nice symmetrical star ice cube. The penguin ice cubes are not quite complete because they are flat on one side. One nice thing about the penguin ice cubes is they are rounded and don't hurt your fingers when you remove them. It is a little time consuming peeling the ice cubes out of the rubber trays. You will have to want to have shaped ice cubes. I am not sure either, how dishwasher safe these are. I think the one advantage of the star ice cubes that pushed the ball over the goal line for me on this purchase, and made it worthwhile having star ice cubes was this. The surface area of the ice is high compared to the volume. They just cool the drinks faster. It is great for martinis or margaritas on the rocks. You can't beat the star ice shape for a good quality drink. You will need several trays, if you are planning even a modest party, the ice stars are not that big.
Saw these first in a magazine and thought it would be great for Florida.The ice cream went in easily.One fell out of the freezer onto the tile floor and a piece cracked off before it could even be eaten.When you use them, ice cream melts down from the part that pushes the ice cream up.It oozes down the handle so your hand gets all gooey.I sure wish these worked better because I would sure be buying more.Unless a new design or better working material is used, please note the above problems before you buy so you know what to expect.FOLLOW UP:I contacted the company who made these thinking maybe mine were defective.After e-mailing them on 3 different occasions with no response, I'm assuming they know of this flaw and are planning to do nothing about it.Save your money and don't buy these items.
When I first got this I followed the directions on the box for chocolate cookie ice cream exactly (which specified refrigerating the mixture for 30 minutes and freezing the gel canisters for 24 hours).This gave me something at about the consistency of a runny milkshake.My second try involved refrigerating the mixture for 18 hours and freezing the gel canisters for around 36 hours.That was more of a thick milkshake.
Ordered the broken part for my ice cream maker and it came along just as I needed it.worked out great.
This machine was a piece of crap. i took the freeze canister out and followed the detailed discription of how to assemble it. i was about to get ready to make me some good homemade ice cream when I put together the machine and locked i realized that i didnt put the canister in while unlocking (it has this twist-and-lock thing) a piece popped off. i tried to put it back to have found out tht a piece tht is supposed to "spin" the blade was broken and hanging by a thread. i do not know if i did this but i am pretty sure i did not. all in all i do not know how this product works all i know is that they need to make the product a little more sturdy. WILL NOT BUY EVER AGAIN. hope this helps anyone thinking about purchusing this item.

Decided to give this product a try despite the mixed reviews from various sites. The mixing paddle broke during the first use and the canister gasket did not seal properly which resulted in the liquid ice cream mixture leaking all over the counter and producing a sticky mess that had to be cleaned up.All-in-all this was a very disappointing and frustrating experience.We will be returning this item immediately.
After getting my ice shaver I knew that I had to get some decent syrups to go with it, and this brand and flavors have been a pretty good choice.
After using the machine from day 1, my grandchildren, the rest of the family, and some of my neighbors have really enjoyed it.The only complaint that I have with it is the blade.As of today, 06/07/2010 I have noticed that the blade is not cutting as efficient as it was when I first used it.By summers end, I will probably need a new blade.With the price of the blades, I just might have to cut down on the usage in order for it to last a full year.After that I just might have to put it in storage with all of the other gadgets that I have acquired over the years.
